Quality Control
Lefebvre/Foresteel has been certified by ASME International for 40 years
for the construction of heat exchangers and pressure vessels (U
and S stamps).
Our quality control system, which enabled us to obtain these certificates,
is audited periodically by the Régie du bâtiment
du Québec, as well as by the inspectors of our clients, as part of
every contract we undertake. Every
three years, in order to renew our certificates, the ASME inspectors thoroughly
audit our quality system.
Moreover, our quality control system is certified by the Chinese
authorities for the fabrication of pressure vessels that are exported to the
People’s Republic of China (China Safety Quality
License). This license attests
that Lefebvre/Foresteel’s quality system is similar to the requirements of ISO
9000. Therefore, the majority of
the elements of the international standards are covered, from management’s
responsibilities to internal quality audits.
Lefebvre/Foresteel is accredited by the Canadian
Welding Bureau for the fabrication of welded structures in steel and
aluminum.
Fabrication is controlled by an inspection and testing plan, by a welding
plan and by multiple work procedures (welding, inspection, testing, etc.).
Customers’ requirements are transmitted to each workstation by the
drawings and the inspection and testing plan, which is completed by the
engineering department and approved by the client before the start of
production.
Lefebvre/Foresteel employees are qualified to execute a wide variety of welding
procedures (SMAW, FCAW, SAW, GTAW et GMAW) for carbon steel, stainless steel
and exotic materials such as Ni, Cr-Mo, Duplex, and 254SMO.
To adapt to the needs of its clients, Lefebvre/Foresteel has the capacity
(due to its internal expertise in welding) to train its employees to obtain
rapidly the qualifications for the welding procedures for even more exotic
materials.
Product fabrication is performed by highly qualified personnel who have
great experience. The materials,
weldings, and final products are inspected by Lefebvre/Foresteel technicians who
are certified level III for visual inspection and level II for non-destructive
tests. When there is a
non-conformance, the quality system ensures that a corrective action is
undertaken and obligates the company to undertake preventive actions.
Continuous improvement is an integral part of Lefebvre/Foresteel’s
quality control policies.
Lastly, Lefebvre/Foresteel’s quality system includes an important
element, which is the respect of delivery dates.
This constitutes the proof that our system is built on the simple
objective of constantly ensuring clients’ complete satisfaction.

Several inspectors and a quality control manager (reporting directly to the President and General Manager of Lefebvre Frères Limited) work full-time to ensure that the applicable requirements, in terms of quality, are fully met.
