In 1914, brothers Achille and Alphonse Lefebvre, two young mecanics, in partnership with their father, a millwright, opened in downtown Montreal a machine shop and a garage for automobiles.  In 1927, following the death of his brother, Achille Lefebvre became the sole owner.  However, in later years, his sons joined him in the business, and latter his son Paul-Émile, Ing. P., became President and General Manager of the company.

In 1922, Lefebvre Frères moved its shop to de Bullion street.

For many years, in addition to general machine shop work, the company specialised in metal spraying and in rebabitting and resising main bearings.

In 1939, Lefebvre surged forward again with the opening in Montreal-North of the largest plant in Canada for the rebuilding of automobile engines.

In 1975, Lefebvre Frères Limitée expanded once again, moving to its current location on Tricentenaire Boulevard.

In 1992, Lefebvre Frères acquired Trempe machine shop, expanding its own set of machine tools by adding Trempe’s highly sophisticated numerical control machines. In 1994, the two companies merged to become only one entity.

Today, Lefebvre Frères is equipped with the most modern machine tools available.  Its staff of highly qualified craftsmen can turn the most complex work into the highest standards of accuracy.  Lefebvre Frères is thus an important manufacturer of custom built equipment with a wide experience in such domains as: Pulp & Paper, Hydro-electric energy, Nuclear Energy, Machinery, Pressure Vessels, Bus Bar systems for aluminery, and a lot more.
